What do you mean when you say: "pc is running 90 cpu"
Are you refering to Temperatures?

Well, svchost.exe is, in most cases, extremely important for Windows to run. It is the connection between various software or hardware and Windows, IIRC, which is why there can be many running at once.
Some viruses or trojans mask themselves with a process of that name to prevent you from terminating it; I'd run an antivirus scan real quick and see what that digs up.

What are the system specs, like CPU/RAM etc...
I've seen old units like Duron 750's go that high (in task manager) doing even the sightest of operations. If you do have an older unit and something is running in the background, like an AV scan or something, this would happen.
You say the fan in the PC is really loud? What fan? If it's the one on the processor, your CPU may be overheating. |

That's a rather new PC. I'd wager that it's under warranty still.
If it is, then take it to someone who is authorized to repair Gateway PCs. If you have someone other than an authorized Gateway repair tech tamper with it, then you'll probably void the remaining warranty.
I'd start with that CPU fan. It shouldn't be as loud as you're describing. But again, don't do anything to it yourself unlkess the warranty has expired.
An overheating CPU could cause the high % usage. |
