Is my NEC drive good for backing up copy-protected discs?
A: Most NEC drives will classify as a "one sheep" writer, which means that they will have trouble backing up some copy-protected discs. Other drives such as LiteOn writers will have better results with backing up copy-protected content.

CLONECD used to rate their supported CD writers as 1 sheep or 2 sheep.

2 sheep drives can read and write RAW images and backup most any Safedisc 2.8-3.15 protected game.

Those that can't are called one sheep burners. They can only handle older versions of SafeDisc 2.x.
