What is an xp media drive?

Nero 5 is ancient, so it's no surprise if it won't recognize the newer burners.

    [edit]
Try upgrading to Nero 6. Only 99 cents plus shipping

Nero 5 and xp media drive

    Thanks for replying…
I received a new computer as a gift when my old trusty computer fried….
It is a 2005 Hp Pravillon which has Xp windows and is a xp Media Center Edition especially for writting cd's and dvd's.
I’m 71 years old and it is all so fancy that it is confusing. I would like to use my ancient Nero 5 with a Nero Wave Editor which I have grown use to over the years. I enjoy writing my oldies to audio cd to play on the car cd player.
I have been on Nero support and downloaded a program that is suppose to make Windown XP recognize Nero 5 but Idon’t know what to do next to make it recognize the recorder.

    I apppreciate your suggestions.

You can actually just use Windows Media player to create the disk. Refer to picture.

Also, Windows can write data to CD media without a program. Just double click the CD drive. A window should open. Now copy paste the songs in there. To the left margin top there is a window that will say "Write these files to CD". Click it. However, your CD player in the car has to be able to play mp3 from disk. If the player in the car says mp3 capable, then this is a possible solution for you. Are the songs in mp3 format?

There is another program I like comparable to Nero called Deepburner. Here is your link

Nero Info tool will tell you all!

Please, how are you recording the music? I mean, from a downloaded mp3, ripping from a CD or input to a soundcard from an audio source such as a cassette?

nero 5 and XP media drive

On a previous post of sept 5 2004 John Prophet” said the following “ …. one thing is to look in nero and see if the recorder chosen is set on "image recorder"...it shouldnt be set on image recorder....see if it is and see if there is a choice that shows your cdrom” this is exactly what happens…the recorder chosen is set on “image recorder” and there are no choices…. How do I change this setting…
as for your question about how I get the music. I have downloaded mp3 from amazon.com, ripping from CD's and input to a soundcard from an audio source such as a cassette and from old records...
The outcome is MP3's which is the reason for using Nero 5 and the Nero Wave Editor which lets me convert files into mp3's.

Hey, I like my Nero 5, too and bought it from a store back in 2005. I like using wave editor for creating/cut&pasting songs for dance and now it won't let me save them. The message I get is something about my 30 tries of saving mp3PRO files being over and downloading an mp3PRO plug-in from the Nero website. I go to the site and it's useless. I called the Nero customer support and they say it's so old, they don't support it anymore. HELP? How do I get this plug-in or the ability to save new mp3 files I've created in the Wave Editor without spending $80-100 on Nero 8?? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Well, sense they said it would not be supported. I would try another option.

You can use Audacity for editing the music clips and burn with Explorer or Nero.

Ok, I guess I'll just have to learn about audacity tonight. I think Nero's stupid for doing this, though. Thanks for your help!

*I downloaded Audacity last night and using it was VERY easy to learn. I love it, and it's user friendliness. I want to hug the people who made that program. Screw Nero for being greedy idiots. I'm a happy woman!
