usb 1 and dual monitor support
I am trying to configure a compac thin client running windows 2000 for dual monitor support. There isn't any pci slot for another video card. I found a usb 2.0 to vga adapter, but I'm pretty sure the computer has usb 1, since it is old. Does anyone know a solution for dual monitors on this system?

Replace the current card with one that has two ports

No AGP slot eiter?

I had never heard of an USB to VGA adapter before? It may work. There may be delay in the video signal to the other monitor though. This shouldn't pose a problem if you are not using the computer for gaming, which I doubt you are.
Alternatively, you can use a video splitter

right no agp slot either. The clerk at tigerdirect said it wouldn't be compatible with usb 1, but he's no expert.

The USB 2.0 to VGA should work fine on the Compaq as USB 2.0 is backwards compatible with USB 1.0/1.1.

Honestly, it depends.
If you just want to have a clone on the second monitor, then something like this will work.

Now if you want a seperate desktop screen, then your gonna need a different GPU, which it seems like that out of the question. Or the adapter that your talking about using. But I will warn you, those are ok for just light work, browsing online, word processing, but for games or anything intensive, the USB stick is not a good option..Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

my concern is that usb 1 won't carry enough data to support the display.

Try it!
Or the dual VGA splinter. Cheaper that way.
