hi I have a dell inspiron e1505 and the screen goes black and I can see the images are still there if I look closely. I brang it in for repairs and they told me I need a new panel. which I don't understand when everyone says it is the backlight going. I did not have it repaired because they want $750. the screen is working right now. it has been on for 5 minutes and the screen hasn't gone out yet. what do you think? |

to begin with i was working with Dell, n the problem u are having is with the backlight. if u computer is in warranty u can simply call dell and ask them to replace it. n u can check ur system warranty online at www.support.dell.com. else if it is not then just email me ur laptop service tag at jaskirat0012@gmail.com, andi will let u know on how to get it replaced free of cost. u dont have to pay $750 for this. |

Did you manage to get the problem resolved? If so please let me know what you did as I'm also getting the same problem now on my E1505.
Thanks,

Thanks,
DharshanaV | Dharshana:
To diagnose this, connect an external monitor to your laptop and use Fn-F8 to toggle to the external display. If the external display is fine, then you've narrowed the problem to the backlight or inverter board.
If the backlight is bad, your LCD display will not appear at all. If the inverter board is bad, then you may see the image when the system first boots, but then the LCD will go black, or will flicker or turn off and on. Either the inverter board or the backlight is relatively easy to replace, but it's a bit expensive to do both, so the correct diagnosis is important.
The parts are easily found on Ebay or by a simple internet search, and the Dell support site should have the service manual for the procedure.
Good luck! |

Yeah, I thought Feb was 2 months ago, in my book, an old thread is a thread with no new posts in a month or so, but I don't really care about old threads.
I would reply with using a old CRT, but Osprey did that for us. |

Us? Who's "us"? Or are we speaking in the royal first person plural? |
