| Anyone know how to open a wireless intellimouse?
While gaming at a LAN party recently, my four month old wireless Intellimouse Explorer quit working. The movement cuts out and I'm stuck. I'm convinced its a loose connection or a frayed wire, because the buttons still work, and if I put the batteries back in it works for about ten minutes before it craps out again. Its well past any chance of return (I got it for chrismas, my mom got it at staples for me and they have a 30 day return policy) so I don't care about not being able to take it back because its been pried open and glued back together. I'd rather do a hack job and get this one working again instead of spending $70 on a new one.
I've gone at it with a flat screwdriver but it seems like its going to break instead of open. Any ideas?

Greetings SealTeamThree. Before you tear it up, I had a similar situation. I called MS and gave them the reciept info via phone and they sent me a replacement mouse. I think I still have the MS number I used at home- or a search of my really old threads here will reveal it. New is better than fixed.
GoodLuck if you choose to do the surgery anyway . |

Whoops, the number was at the old place... Quote:
The number is :
1-800-360-7561.
| Still works and is free (unlike so many of MS's other numbers)
Like GZ3 said, they will replace it- they also didnt ask for my old one in return. |

Just got of the phone with my mom (there goes the bill ) and she doesn't have the receipt anymore. They said to order a replacement you have to have a proof of purchase. I wonder if a credit card statement would work? |

That was just the outgoing message. I wonder if they don't care....
What the hell, I'll give it a try. At worse, M$ gets a bigger phone bill |

Just got off the phone with MS...
They're shipping it to me, free of charge. Didn't ask for a receipt, they did want the product number. The kicker is it doesn't ship until May 28th, so looks like I need a cheap mouse until then. Mabey I'll just rip apart the one I have apart and see if I can't get it working. |
