Vista Log Off/Shut Down Issue

I have an HP Pavilion dv6626us, whenever I try to restart my computer shut it down or even log off, sometimes it would just stay on the log off screen and not do anything else. Is there a way for me to correct this problem? It happens 8 out of 10 times I attempt to restart or shut down my laptop. I tried to do a search on the forums trying to see if anyone else had the issue I am experiencing.

No it wasn't always like this. If you mean am I still under the HP warranty, yes I am. But it seems like it is more software related than hardware so there really isn't any coverage with software issues. I was thinking about just doing a restore and start over but I was hoping for some sort of fix before I opted for that option

If this problem is recent, then your best option is to do a restore from a point BEFORE this occured. You won't lose anything important, your system will just be restored to the exact way it was when the restore point was created. Windows by default will do this automatically. you will find the restore point option under Vista's Security section. Can't hurt to try it. Beats running your HP restore option, which WILL change everything back to the way your computer was the day you took it out of the box. Good luck.

yea, try system restore first..but most of the time, system restore will not work on this vista problem.worse comes to worse, give Hp a call and ask them how to restore your computer like on a 'factory settings' (usually takes 5-8 minutes).and before you do this, SAVE all your important files first..Do you have another partition on your hd? if you do, save all your files on that partition for the meantime before you perform any changes to your computer..
