800MB (90min) CDR Media Question
Anyone know if an 800MB (90min) CDR media can be used with a Plextor 8/4/32 CDRW drive? I remember seeing a site while back where it showed all the CDRW drives that passed and failed the compatibility test and the Plextor 8/4/32 did support this media size, but can't remember at what speed it was able to burn them. Some drives were only able to burn at 1 or 2x using this size media.

Thanks, guys... Looks like I will need to do some more searching for that site... Yes, I've looked in the Plextor media compatibility chart. That was the first thing I did, but no joy.

No, Otheos. Plextor 8/4/32 does support 90min 800MB CD's from the test chart I saw. It just wasn't able to burn then at 8x as I remember...Last edited by NDC; May 4th, 2002 at 11:58 PM.

Found one that's more updated!

Plextor 8/4/32 can burn 90 minute CD's at all speeds other than 1x. Bad new is that it won't burn 99 minute CD's!

Nice link though.
My drives weren't listed but both worked with up to 850mb (haven't tried more). Don't know what 850 is in minutes. One worked at 12x and the other is burnproof, so I don't what speed it ran at but it was fast
. Both are LG brands.
My car's mp3 deck wouldn't read either one properly
(maybe I should try a lower burn speed)
The oldest drive I've used one on was HP 4x burner seemed to read and burn them fine, but I didn't go over 90min.

I have a LiteON 32x and some CompUSA 80 min Cd's. Can I over burn them? Do you have to go out and buy 90 min cd's? I have a Toshiba sd-m1502 as a dvd/cd drive.

My bad, it was 89:59 I meant to type in there. All Plextors up to the 16x would only do 89:59. Newer models do more (but these are a new breed of drives).
This site has some info. Sorry for the confusion.
