New HardDrive for HP DV9000

Hello, i am looking into buying a new hard drive for my dv9000 notebook. I know that i'd have to buy a sata adapter so i can connect it to the laptop, but i dont know if there is a max hard drive size(like capacity, not physical size) I'd like to get a 300gb drive but i dont know if my laptop will support a drive that big. Please help me because i dont know much about this laptop.

That's a pretty new notebook. (C2D cpu)
You shouldn't need an adaptor since it is already using a SATA drive...

So buy whatever size/capacity drive you can afford.

yeah I looked at the current drive installed and its a normal sata drive, but it has a weird adapter thing on it to make it proprietary, so i was wondering if there was any limit to how big i could get it

Any adapter on a notebook drive can usually be transferred to the new drive. They are proprietary only on one end - not both. Remove the adapter and put it on the new drive.
