I recently got a new case for my PC a Antec Nine Hundred. After I assembled everything into the case and went to power on the unit, it would post and stay on the splash screen after a short while it would advance to the next screen but than I would get a error message which says:
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
I proceed and press enter and the same message would appear. I than shut down the unit and checked my cable connections. Everything seemed where they should be and plugged in properly. I power on the unit again and I receive the same message again. Now I restarted and went into the Bios and saw that I did not have HDD or Optical drive listed. I tested if they had power, I opened the optical drive tray and it worked as it should. After that I shut down the unit again, and looked at the cables again unplugging and re-plugging the IDE plugs. I booted the machine up and still got the same error. I decided to change the IDE cable and use a new one. Yes the cable was new it was still in the original wrapping that came with my mobo. I started to plug the cable in and when I got up to my HDD I was having an issue were it would not go all the way in, I checked the pins on the hdd and they looked straight and aligned. After so, I powered on the unit again only to get the same issue. Is it possible that the IDE controllers on the mobo is dead? There was small signs of life cause I tried this a couple of times and I got it to boot into the OS once, but the optical drive still didnt work. Than I checked the cable for that and than I would receive the original error message. And another time I did it, the optical drive worked but the HDD didn't. I really feel it was a faulty IDE cable but I had used 2 and the original one worked fine with the old case.
Currently the only things I have plugged in, is my IDE HDD, IDE optical drive, floppy drive, video card, sound card and 2 case fans.
I would like some recommendations on what I should do from this point, any advice would be appreciated.
