Try updating the Windows Installer:
Download details: Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable
Getting all Windows Updates is really important!
If the new Installer doesn't work, try a cleanup:

July 10th, 2008, 05:01 AM #3Download the one that says "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe" and install it. It will not cause any other problems. If it fails to fix the problem, use the cleanup utility and reinstall the same file again. Thanks, I need a bit more courage--there appears to be 2 possible downloads,3.1 Eula & Kb893803
Which should I use? I've downloaded both
Thanks, this has been a challenge -a good one for me!
Will this cause a problem with any other windows programs? When I run it, is there anything else I have to do?MCSE, MCP and nut job

Visit Windows Update now and then. In Internet Explorer, click Tools > Windows Update. Here's a direct link:

So far, no luck--IN your first reply, there are side by side blue underlined fixers. I was unable to open those, any thought? the arrows did't trigger a response.
I think this all has to do with the removal of Sonic ware and installing Nero. I wanted to use Lightscribe.
My last resort was reformatting, which is a challenge and lots of reinstallying. It may be the only hope.
I do appreciate your help!

Click the EDIT button and a box will show the text. Put the I-bar to the right of your email address and backspace til it's gone. Save Changes.
Nothing is hopeless. If this is a recent problem, use System Restore.MCSE, MCP and nut job

There is only quote available, and that post was from my original name. Not great, but I'll get at a better way to eliminate it some how.
I'll check into system restore-- I imagine that will work.
thank again, I learned alot and you have been patient!
