Computer Screen Black with message...

My mom just reformatted her computer, was working just fine and now all of a sudden, she has a black screen that says "Cannot display this video mode, change computer display input to 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz"
The windows XP logo comes up on the screen, bios works etc, but cannot go any further

Any help?

Press F8 while starting and choose Enable VGA Mode. Go into Display settings > Settings and set the resolution as this message specifies.

In Advanced > Monitor, set refresh rate to 60Hz.
