Exclamation Bad BIOS checksum. Starting BIOS Recovery...

I was away from my computer, and when I came back, the screen was black and it said "Bad BIOS checksum. Starting BIOS Recovery...". Every time I reboot, I can't get passed that screen!

I do have my computer on 24/7, so I kind of have a feeling the battery on the mobo finally died? (I read that could be the problem) The green LED on the motherboard is still lit, however; is that because it's being powered by the PSU?

I also tried resetting the bios, but that didn't work. I didn't update the bios or mess with anything. I was just away from my computer...

The motherboard doesn't get powered by the PSU? I thought the battery on the motherboard was only for backup?

Before I go out and spend some money on a new battery for the mobo, is there any other possibility?

    EDIT:

Oh great, I used my motherboard's support CD to flash to original bios and after it told me to reset the system and turned it back on, all I get is a blank screen now. Absolutely nothing. Now, all I can hope for is that the CMOS battery is dead...

I ordered some new CHEAP batteries online. I hope it will get here fast...

Just installed new CMOS battery, but it didn't fix it.

I can't even get POST or beep.. I get no signal on the monitor.

I have a feeling my motherboard, CPU, or PSU died... I have a feeling it's the mobo.... argh!

I'm guessing it's the mobo that died because I'm not getting anything on the screen or beep.

Even if the CPU is dead, shouldn't it still post something if the mobo is working?

I have/had the exact same problem. I went to lunch and when I came back I saw the black screen with the bad bios checksum message and cannot get passed it.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was?

    Cheers,
    Daniela

Hi i also have the same problem with a customers PC and have changed the MOBO and it still says the same thing so it has to be either the Processor or PSU but more than likely the Processor. Hope this is of some help.
