My internet spikes for ne reason

Im a gamer and when im plaing a game my ping will sipke to 2k+ then drop in seconds but there is nothing going in my desktop and i dont see anything loading i run virus scans with avg but it gives me nothing let me know what you guys think it is.

What type of internet connection do you have? Are you sharing the internet with anyone in the house (using a router?)

I use dialup my provider is peoplepc and i play diablo 2 im only one who uses it let me know if there is nething else you wana know
