| MoBo not booting- Asus A8V Deluxe
Ok, my computer recently shut off without warning. I could not turn it back on, and when I turned the power supply off and then on again, my motherboard made a single, short beep, and nothing else happened. This repeated every time I tried afterwards. I took my computer apart, dusted it, put it back together, and the same thing happens. The fans start to run for about half a second, then all stop. Is my motherboard dead? |

It could very well be the power supply. Try that first. It's cheaper.

Ok, thanks. Is there any definitive way to determine which one is the problem? |

No, there is no real way to determine for sure which is the culprit beyond replacing them
You could try totally annassembling the pc and setting up the motherboard outside the case with ONLY the necessary connections and components, but you have to have a certain level of familiarity with computers
Like stated before, you should start with the power supply, then troubleshoot from there |

Well, replacing the power supply did nothing to solve the problem, as the same thing is still happening. Could replacing the battery found on the motherboard solve this? I'm going to try that next.

You could try the battery, but I suspect a bad motherboard. |
