Slow download speed with Comcast - Tech Support Forums

My download speed is avg 2mbs and I am paying for 6mbs. Comcast says it is just my computer, but it worked fast and great with Verizon FIOS in TX and with Starstream cable in Northern CA? What on my computer could be slowing down the speed?

How did you figure out what speeds you were getting with comcast?

Are you using a router? Or is the modem plugged directly into your pc?

Try unplugging both the router and modem for at least five minutes...Plug back in and do speed test.

I do not use a router and Comcast installed a new modem yesterday and it did not help. Thanks, Msstick8888

I'll be the first to admint I'm not the network guru here, but is it possible that the servers you're downloading from are the problem? Are you shared broadband and downloading at peak busy times?

Try a download at 3:00 a.m. if you can
