Speeding Up An Old Laptop

Hey fellas,
I'm using this laptop for strictly using Office 2003, I was using it a lot back in the day but all my other computers are much better and run Office 2007. I need 2003 for a class I'm taking, otherwise I wouldn't even bother. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8100 with a 1.2 GHz P3 and 512 RAM w/ XP Pro SP2. I'm guessing thats plenty for doing things in office, but to my surprise it takes forever to start the programs and thats after the horrendous windows boot time. I've noticed Spy Sweeper makes start-up slow so I disabled that but it didn't make much of a diffrence. I also used to have McAfee anti-virus but that was uninstalled and avast was put in its place. Could you guys help me speed this bad boy up? Here's a HijackThis log file:

Also on another note since my Spy Sweeper is expired I've tried to uninstall but I keep on getting a message that says:

Runtime Error (at 227:73)

Could not call proc.

Could this have anything to do with my laptop being slow?

Copy and paste the log into a Hijackthis reader, that will tell you the good and bad programs.


Also, download CCleaner and run the Cleaner, Registry fixer, and use it to disable unessecary programs starting up with Windows.
