ok update. I tryed the new card in again and had small progress in the fact that the 260s fans worked but there was still no image displayed on screen, there is no hard drive activity and windows does not boot. More worrying i put the old card in and it doesn't work ether, same problem.
I'll get a new psu tommorow if that the problem. It won't have damaged anything will it? |

You didn't hurt anything.
Get a 600W power supply. You can judge their quality pretty well by weight. The heavier, the better. Avoid the low cost models.

It would be really hard to damage anything.
That's a nice power supply. When you install it, take a moment to remove the motherboard battery for a few seconds before powering up. |

Do you mean remove it and then replace it before booting up or just remove it all togther?
Do you think that psu will be able to power all my stuff?
I'm just a little worryed that the old grapics card did work since the 260 gtx had been in there but now the computer won't boot with it in. I'm a little paranoid as i'm sure you can tell.
Thanks once again |

Remove and replace. It's called "clearing CMOS".
The power supply is probably dying. Replace it. The 650W will work fine for what you have now and some future changes.
Enough already. Worrying never got anything done, eh? |
