Old HDD won't boot

I just aquired a Dell Latitude D600 2004 model. It was previously used by my wifes office. I believe they were using NT. I have tried to just put my HDD from my old IBM laptop into it. However all I get is this message. NTLDR missing. I believe this is because my HDD is particioned as a Fat32. I loaded Win XP on the HDD that came with the Dell using an NT format and it works. However I need to be able to use my current HDD. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this? I am guessing it has something to do with the Bios on the Dell being set for NT?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks Bipolarbill for your help. Not really what I wanted to hear, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Thanks again.

You can use a hard drive from another PC, but running a repair is required. It's no great shakes.
