Laptop touchpad scroll doesn't work anymore
I have the HP TX2500z, the touchpad on the machine is essentially split into the main touchpad and the scrolling pad. The scrolling feature used to work, but I have just recently noticed that every time I try and use the scroll feature, it just moves the mouse.
I can't seem to find any option in control panel under mice for this as I thought it might have been turned off by accident....

Jimmy, download new drivers for the touchpad at the HP download page for your laptop.

What? Where did you get the drivers? This is the *only* place you should get drivers:
Software & Driver downloads*HP Pavilion tx2500z CTO Notebook PC
There are touchpad, Wacom and fingerprint sensor drivers there.
Honestly Jimmy, you're an "Ultimate member" now.MCSE, MCP and nut job

hey i had the same problem too. heres the fix:
control panel--mouse--device settings (the last tab on the top of the page)--click the touch pad and select settings--click on virtual scrolling and there you go! just enable vertical scrollong and horizontal if you want, just slide your finger on the bottom of the pad

Thank you jgolem
I have been looking for drivers on HP and uninstalling/reinstalling synaptic touchpad driver to get scrolling to work. I tried your solution , and even though it said virtual scrolling was enabled I disabled/ and reenabled virtual scrolling and it fixed the problem. Thanks, you probably saved me an hour or two of work and cursing! Todd Washburn

Still doesn't work
I've got vista and there is no "device settings" tab under the mouse section of control panel. There are only buttons, pointers, pointer options, and hardware; none of which mention anything about virtual scrolling.

That's hilarious GZ! Nothing like a little controversy to get people stirred-up. This will be fun to watch :)
