Monitor or TV?

I am a teacher and am starting to explore the possibility of getting a few large TV/Monitor Screens installed in our cafeteria to scroll through a powerpoint that would contain different announcements each day for the student body to read. Our space is full of light and an LCD projector just doesn't do well. Can you tell me if a large flat screen tv can or should be converted to serve this function? Or is it possible to hook a few monitors together to get a large image? WHich one (monitor or TV) should I be looking for for this type of broadcast? I am not sure what direction to take.
Thanks

How large is "large"?

What is the budget for each one?

Any monitor with HDMI/DVI or VGA will work perfect with any PC. Splitting the display output to show on multiple monitors is possible.
