ntldr commpressed

Can anyone help me i keep getting ntldr compressed press alt control delete to restart

now a w@nker on the phone at tech guys told me to start recovery because my dvd drive wasnt working he said it would reinstall the drivers for it so thats what i did then i get this error ntldr compressed i have xp cd but my dvd drive still isn't working so i cant use it i also don't have a floppy drive i bought this great unit from maplins which plugs into the usb of a computer and lets you plug an internal harddrive into it and access it so i took the harddrive from the problem computer out plugged it into this unit and into another computer went into I386 folder and found this file but in the properties there is no tick in the compressed box however there was some compressed files in there so i just uncompressed all of the files from the harddrives properties then plugged it all back in and that didn't work the computer is a phillips freevents tower and i can't find how to enter the bios Because i have an external dvd drive so if i could change it so it boots from that i could use the xp disk if anyone knows how to get the bios on this machine, also the xp it has is media center edition but the xp disk i have (from a different computer) is the normal service pack two xp does this matter? as i can enter the drive though the other computer if i just replace the file with the one on the xp disk would that work?

Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated

Have you searched Google for this error?

You must have either a CD drive or floppy drive. If you don't have one, borrow it.

A little advice. You should really take the time to use punctuation and uppercase to separate sentences. Do you have any idea how hard it is to read that stream of thought? Am I Robert Downy Jr?

Sorry i thought it would be easier to read like that my mistake,

I did look on google and found results suggestng DVD drives and Floppys. but i thought someone else might have another way because i can actually get into the files on the harddrive on the other computer.

I have a external DVD drive but i can't get into the computer bios (Because i dont know how) to change it to boot from that.

If i had a internal CD Drive and just unscrewed the one thats in there and screwed that in instead would it work with no software or anything like that?

If it has Media Centre Edition XP would an older XP disc still work?

Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

Yup - if you directly replace the internal drive, including jumper setting, it should work fine.

As far as getting into BIOS goes, a USB keyboard may not work. You may need an older PS2 keyboard to get a response.

I am using a PS/2 keyboard, and have tried F6, F8, F11 and Control. Is there any others i should try?

The only thing i do get up if i press Control and S is a setup screen with 4 options on it 3 are unchangeable and the other one is how many seconds the message which says "press control and s for setup" is displayed for.

If it has a DVD-RW Drive and i replace it with a CD-Rom Drive will that still work as well? Because i think i have one knocking about somewhere from an old W95 computer.

A CD drive is fine - same setup.

Try F2 or DEL to get into BIOS. The last word on this can be found, as always, in the manual or at the support site for your equipment.
