Good Server parts?

What are some good server parts that I could use to start building a server? and why there so good. Thanks for the help.

Any machine you build to be a desktop will work perfectly fine to be a server. Higher end production servers usually have raids (most modern motherboards these days have them) and support ECC ram (again most motherboards support).

The great thing about building server is you dont have to spend an arm and a leg on the video card. Something very simple is all you need allowing more money to go to the cpu and ram.

That's right. The biggest factor is your Internet connection. Most ISPs won't allow you to operate a server from home unless you pay a higher rate. Even if they do, you likely have an upload limit of 400-800Kbps. That is not going to be fast enough for gameplay. It will be pretty laggy.

depends on the game & the number of people on the server. as well as the players distance from the server sometimes.
