Ok, I did disable the hard drives. it's listed as hdd group so both had to be disabled. but still didn't load up my system restore disk. I also downloaded knoppix and tried to install it on my bad disk, still goes directly to bsod. this drive must have something lingering in the memory or system or something, because it doesn't want to do anything without it.
I think I'm just going to chuck this drive and buy a new one. was hoping to save it.
Thanks for all the help. maybe I can take this drive to a repair shop and have them format it for me for a small fee and not 75 bucks an hour.
