Hi, welcome to TechIMO.
I would put my money on the power supply. A lot of OEM PSU's are junk, and go out fairly often. It is one of the more overlooked parts in a tower.
If you give us your model number, we could find a replacement that would work. |

The most common problem with laptops is a worn power jack. If this is what went wrong, the battery would die because it cannot be charged. A new cord would *not* fix the problem because the jack is worn out inside the laptop. In such a case, it would not start.
You need to take the notebook in for service. They should me able to fix it for less than $100. |

Thank you so much! That makes sense. I was using it on the couch, running on battery, and it just died and would not turn back on with the power cord. Thanks again- I sure appreciate you sharing your knowledge. |
