| Power supply connector and Mobo slots
Hey all, Ok feeling kinda dumb. This is my 4 build but it is my first in the last years. Well anyway here is my issue.
All the stuff arrived.
I go to plug in the power supply to the Mobo. and well the pins dont line up aahhh
The mobo has 24 pin connector and the power supply has 20 pins? actually I have 2 power supplies and they both do not have enough.
What are my options? There is not a lot of information with the power supply and none with the mobo on the power supply connector.
mobo = ASUS P5Q SE/R
Case is CASE ROSEWILL|R5717-P BK RT with power supply
I also have a PSU SILVERSTONE|ST400 400W RT
both do not have enough pins for the mobo.
thanks

The 20 pin power connector should fit into the 24 pin connector as shown in the pic.

Thanks for the info. Just one question AR. How do I know which side of the mobo connector that I should leave open?
The adaptor is not expensive perhaps Ill just buy one.

you'll only be able to fit the connector in/on one way, the individual plugs are shaped differently so if it doesn't slide in from one side, try the other end... only really two ways of doing it. just don't jam it in if its not sliding in properly, as some have done in past LOL
there's also usually somewhere printed on the board around the connector where Pin 1 should be, try to see if you can find that, should make it easier too. |
