Computer Beeps like an alarm clock, closes programs

Hello,
About three nights ago, my computer randomly began beeping .. it was a loud, high pitched beep (like an alarm clock), it lasted for about 5-10 seconds, and it started to close all my programs one by one. When everything was closed, it stopped, it didn't reboot, didn't turn off, I was just left with my desktop. It's been doing this about once a day.

I've been hearing it might be a temp alarm, so I installed speedfan, and saw little that was out of the ordinary, here is a quick screen of my speedfan numbers:
http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/915/tempha8.jpg
Core 0 and Core 1 are the processor cores
Core .. it says is the video card
Temp .. it says it's "LM75 nForce2 SMBus"
Those last 2 are the ones that are hot, according to speedfan
(I checked in BIOs too .. processor was at 40C, motherboard 30C)

It's done it about 3 times today, therefore it seems to be getting worse. When in BIOs I saw an alarm for "CPU speed fan alarm" .. it was on, and I turned it off to see if that was it .. hasn't happened since (but it also hasn't happened to frequently yet, so I don't know if that's what it was for sure).

Some specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 2.13GHz
Asus P5N-SLI (nForce 570 intel chipset)
2 GB DDR2 Corsair RAM
250 GB Western Digital HD
GeForce 8600GT video card

Anyone have any ideas? My only guess right now is that the CPU fan could be going .. but I'm certainly not much of an expert.

Hi dont know exactly what the issue is, you might try checking your task manager or services to see whats running in the background. This may help identify the issue also check error logs, there may have also been a automatic microsoft update? Or you may have updated your drivers recently. Try a restore point, if this is an option, to just prior to the event occuring and see if it still continues.

Upates arent always helpful re Xp sp2 and earlier updates like update KB90830 malicious tool remover - actualy recreated the user profle, it decided without any input from the user or chance for this to happen to do this..what this meant for me was a whole lot of people couldnt access files or networked drives at work. Didnt realise what was going on at first as the user log on was still the same.

G.luck

Check Event Viewer to see what is causing this. It's in Control Panel > Administrative Tools.
