| Motherboad Wont Detect HDD
My motherboard won't detect my HDDs in the bios and I didn't figure this out until I tried installing XP and the installation told me there was not a hard drive to install on. MY GPU is blocking my first SATA port so I plugged my 2 hard drives into SATA ports 3 and 4.
My system specs:
Intel Q6600
BIOSTAR TForce TP43D2A7
2 x Hitachi Deskstar 500 GB (SATA)
2 x 2GB OCZ RAM @ 800 MHZ
9800 GTX+
600 Watt OCZ PSU
I really need this up and running as soon as possible. Help is much appreciated.
EDIT: forgot to mention I have a dvd drive that's in SATA port 5 and it is detected

Can try the F6 option early in the installation to load sata drivers off a floppy
Or look in the BIOS for a setting on the sata port to change it to IDE mode. |

I took the files from the following path: E:\Driver\Chipset\Intel\SATA and within the CD there are folders for ICH5, ICH6, ICH7, ICH8, ICH9, and ICH10 and with their respected floppies installed the F6flpy file, it may be my floppy disk drive since it is VERY old, but these drivers aren't working, windows cant detect any of the files. Are there any other drivers I could install? |

Did you try plugging one drive? Did you try any other SATA ports? |

Just thought I would update this for the sake of closure. RMA-ed my HDD and the system still didn't work, then RMA-ed my Mobo and finally got my system up and running! Who would of thought, 2 hard drives and a mobo DOA! I bought this full system a month ago, and I finally got it up and running. Man that was a pain in the ass! Just glad its over. |
