| Windows formatting not responding!!! PLease help
First I want to say thanks to anyone who helps me with my major problem.
I recently built my first computer and the parts are as follows:
Processor: Q9400 2.66GHz 6mb cache Intel Quad core
Video card: EVGA 9800gx2 GDDR3
Memory: 4GB OCZ reaper 1066MHz
Motherboard: EVGA 780i intel chipset FTW model. I think it has 1333 FSB
PSU: 859 watt rosewill extreme series
Hard drive: 500g Western digital 7200Rpm Sata drive
Well my first problem was that in the windows partition screen my 500GB HDD only said it was 131GB but I figured out that windows xp Sp 1 does not reconize sata drives so I used a Service pack 2 disk and it reconized it, but when I go to install windows on the C drive (which I made it to be 120GB) it does not setup. What I mean is on the blue screen with the progress bar at the bottom does not pass 0%. I waited for at least 10 min.
PLEASE HELP!
Edit* The screen that wont pass 0% is the windows XP setup window. The bar says setup is formatting... And above that is says
C: Partition1 [New (raw)] 200000 MB (200000 MB free)
on 476938 MB disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR].
--if that means anything at all--

Since it looks like you only want a 120gig C drive, try your other cd. The rest of the drive will be there after the install to make additional partition(s). |

Let me say here the difference between quick and normal format is that normal will check the disk for errors.
Quick is fine for new drives...if you trust them. |
