my cd rom not detectin the cds

I AM HAVING A CD-ROM WHICH WAS WORING SMOOTHLY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ONE DAY
STOPPED DETECTING ANY CDs.
I WENT TO SEE WHETHER THERE IS ANY HARWARE ISSUE,BUT FOUND THAT THE CD-ROM
IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY IN DEVICE MANAGER. IT EJECTS AND SHUTS BUT NEVER
DETECTS THE CD.
PLEASE ADVICE WHAT SHOULD I DO

1st: Turn off Your Caps Lock...

2nd: have you tried cleaning the CD Drive, via a lens cleaner disc? (or the poor mans solution of using forced air to clean it out, though not recommended as it can blow harmful particles farther into the device & "scratch" the laser lens or do other types of damage)

3rd: Check to make sure all the drive cables are securely connected, or unplug them, make sure pin contacts are clean & plug back in securely.

4th: see if there's a Firmware update for your particular model drive.

5th: its possible the CD drive is FUBAR, lens out of alignment, or something like that, in that case its usually cheaper to just replace the drive, since their so cheap these days.
