Computer turning on and off
I know there are a dozen threads on this, but the ones I saw did not seem similar to my problem.
First of all, this is a friend's computer. The computer was running fine for over a month. Installed some software for a digital camera. Attempted to reboot. The computer shut off within 5 seconds of the restart. Now it does this everytime. I once got to the XP login screen, but then it shut off. If I unplug the cord and plug it in, the computer starts by itself, but shuts off within 10 seconds. Here is what I have tried so far:
Disconnected the power button (thought it was stuck in the pushed position)
Removed video card
Disconnected all peripherials
All give me the same results as before. The mobo is a P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe. Thanks in advance for any advice.

If the PC is shutting off (as oppsed to restarting), it's either overheating or the power supply is dying.
If the PC is actually restarting, you need to tell us that.MCSE, MCP and nut job

I would wonder if the installation of the software and the stability issue are related or not. As Bipolar suggested, more info would help. Does the machine try to start cyclically, that is, start, shut off after a few seconds, attempt to restart right away, etc? Does it get to post (beep)? And then fails to load the OS? Sounds like it is not posting, which would indicate psu, mobo not liking voltages, cpu fan off / unplugged, etc. Might try to start w/o any hard drives plugged in. Getting to post and staying there would be first base.
