| - Ok. Click start> run, type command and press enter. in command prompt type chkdsk/f. it will ask you to restart. type y and enter. restart the PC. Do for all partitions. It should correct the partition table.
- I'm sorry if i am repeating myself. I know this must be frustrating for you. Ok so you CAN NOT create a partition in unalocated space. Have you tried the boot disc. I know that may seem strange but is has worked for me in the past. It's a funny program PMagic. I has the 7th and 8th version and i believe you could create a boot disc in both. When you first installed you should have really created a boot disc. It is very easy to mess up your hDD if you are unsure of what you are doing.
cheers

Why not just create a new drive letter for the unallocated space. |

I created both rescue disks for PMagic 7.0. I tried to boot from Disk 1 as instructed by clicking AUTOEXE2, but nothing happened...no MS-DOS screen, etc. I also clicked the other MS-DOS files but nothing. In addition, I also did the CHKDSK/F in DOS, but I got the following response: "Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)" I made sure that no other application was open. I typed Y and rebooted the computer with no luck.
I was able to open Disk 2, but it basically gave me instructions on using the boot disks, which I had already read in the Help menu.
Am I doing something wrong?
I truly appreciate your patience with me and staying with me the past few days. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. |

Thankyou i did. make sure the boot order is set to floppy 1st in the bios. then before you turn on your PC insert the disc. power on and it should just boot to the floppy before windows starts. It then runs a basic version of Partition magic where you can edit the partitions.
With the scan disc, it should have done a boot up scan... did anything happen? |

I hope you had a happy New Year's. I checked the BIOS under Boot Device Priority, and it showed the following: 1st - ATAPI CD-ROM, 2nd - Removable Dev., 3rd - Hard Drive, 4th - Intel (R) Boot Agent Ve Nowhere did I see floppy drive under this heading. I did see that the floppy is installed, but it is not even given as a choice for boot up. I looked at the entire BIOS to make sure I was doing things right, and I know that I did. Is the floppy under another name ? (one of the above)? |

I don't know exact motherboard and couldn't find it in my files. I'd have to physically open the case to find out. I do know the following: BIOS Version MV85010A.15A.0049.P07, Intel Pentium 4, 2.26 GHz, Gateway 700X. I hope that helps. |

I found the motherboard! It is an Intel D850EMV2, Chipset Intel i850E, Rev. A3, Southbridge Intel 82801BA (ICH2), LPCIO - SMSC LPC47M14x.
I added the extra information just in case. I hope this helps. |
