| Partition Magic 7.0 (Unallocated Partition)
I tried to resize my C: drive, but now I have an unallocated partition that I cannot get rid of. I went through the Help menu but couldn't find an answer. It's already affecting my computer's performance because I have less permanent space. Any suggestions? |

try redisribute free space. or move/resise partition. how much unallocated space is there? if it's only like 20mb, it's nothing really to worry about... |

The unallocated space is 6Gb out of 19Gb total (C: drive). I also have an F: drive that has 3Gb unallocated out of 19Gb total. When I originally tried to redistribute free space or resize the partitions, upon rebooting, I would get an error stating that the job could not be completed. Upon checking the hard drive space, I saw that it had increased my unallocated space by the same amount I had originally wanted to redistribute or resize. Now, I cannot undo it or reverse the process.
I'm afraid of trying to do it again for fear of making the problem worse. Right now, I continually get low disk space warnings and have to do a disk cleanup almost every time. Thanks! |

Have you tried scanning the disk for errors? Is the 19GB drive partitioned from a bigger drive? eg. 80gb = 59 + 19.
Also have you tried making a PMagic boot floppy? sometimes changes can be made with this disk.
Good luck! |

I scan my hdd's on a constant basis using Webroot Spy Sweeper.
The 19Gb is partitioned from a 40Gb total hdd. I partitioned the original C: drive into a second F: drive.
I've never made a PMagic boot floppy. Is that something I can download? This was a PMagic copy someone gave me a while back. |

no i mean a chkdisk. Right click HDD > tools > check now... You might have to do a startup scan.
No you can from memory create a boot floppy in the actual program Partition Magic. Check the help file...
Can you create a partition in the unpartitioned space? then merge it with something else? |

I checked the disk for viruses, and it's clean. Startup scan was clean also.
I can create a boot floppy with a 3.5" floppy disk. What does that do for me since I have access to PMagic?
I cannot create a partition in the partitioned space. I tried with no luck. Here was the response:
I can create a partition:
"After C: but before F:
After F: (recommended)"
My current space allocation is as follows:
C: 12 GB available F: 16.27 GB available
6.9 unallocated 3 GB unallocated |

it's not a check for viruses. I want to check that the partition table is correct. Do a NORMAL scandisk. No virus scans. Sometimes changes can't be made by partition magic itself, then you have to use the boot disk.
Can you create a partition what uses all the unallocated space? |

I did a Windows CheckDisk in PMagic for both the C: and F: drives under Operations. It went through 3 stages (file, index, security descriptor, and usn journal verification) in DOS. It seems like it found errors in the C: drive --> "Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap. Windows found problems with the file system. Run CHKDSK with the /F (fix) option to correct these. Press any key to continue..."
It would not allow me to do a CheckDisk for the extended or unallocated space.
I CANNOT create a partition at all in any unallocated space. |
