External hard drive

Hello guys

I have a problem with my exterrivenal western digital hard drive, it was working properly until recently, I try to delete the System volume information files in the hard. at the time, i didn't know what system volume information files are. I tried to format the hard drive, i even did partion using MS dos.. but the hard drive is still not working.. basically when i connect the hard drive it receives power but is not detect by windows. thanks for any help in advance.......

You need to look in Disk Management (DISKMGMT.MSC). Disk Management is well hidden. The easiest way to get to it and other consoles is to right-click My Computer and select "Manage".

Here, you can import a drive, partition, format and reletter it. You may need to delete the partition and then recreate it, but first try assigning a new drive letter.
