So it says I do not have a sound card.
Short story... I have a pc with XP pro. It had XP pro prior to the action I took
Which is...in an attempt to get rid of Windows GenuineAdvantage nagware(which I have successfully done previously).
Then came the day I had to "restore" to an earlier day event because of some other program causing problems.....which also restored GAN. Bugger! So I did the same thing as I had done previously(which was a visit into the registry). However, this time it was not deleting the file when I requested the removal from the "Notify" area of the registry. It would just pop up again. So, I went inside that folder and started to delete some of the entries within - however I did not delete all the entries (for some reason which escapes me) and I closed up the registry and restarted.
It does not come back to the Windows desktop. It stops partway asking for a username and password.?
Hitting enter and having nothing in the blanks did not get me past it, nor did my own name and password I use most often in the machine get me past it.
>I failed to mention that I just got it out of the shop, and the tech "flashed the memory" to get by all the password locks".
I am not worthy of the knowledge of "flashing" (nor do I have the body for it)
So, with my limited knowledge( as this was a second hand computer and I did not have the original disk) I figured I could use another XP disk which I knew the access code to, to insert the missing registry files when it loaded up.
It worked(and it didn't) I am into the computer and have to start again and reload stuff as the stuff prior is all gone? I was hoping to get certain records that I had made and left on the desktop(not saving to anywhere else) But that seems to be gone.
"However, it tells me that there is no sound card in there???" Was before. But the little speaker on the taskbar is not there and in control panel sound it is saying drivers are missing but yet elsewhere when I try troubleshoot the audio it says there is "no problem"??
Are the drivers there(but not there)? How would I check? The audio stuff seem to be mostly SiS stuff.
The motherboard name :ELS K7S5A (5PCI,1 AGP,1 AMR, 2SDR DIMM, 2DDR DIMM,Audio
The chipset: SiS 735
Audio Adapter: REALTEK RL5383/ALC100(P)@SiS 7012 Audio Device
I mean I hear the odd beep once in awhile, but that is it(and I think the beep comes from the PC speaker.
Would like to get the sound back - just don't know where to start to accomplish this task.
I used EVEREST in the hopes that it was the type of program that fixes stuff and it told me alot of "stuff" which really did not help me - though I saved the info to study later.
