I don't know if this is a virus or not but you shouldn't take chances.
With regard to viruses, it's always better to be proactive and install anti-virus software before an infection. One doesn't put on the condom after the visit to the doctor. (Ok, enough preaching.)
You need to get an anti-virus application, install it in safemode, so the virus doesn't foil your efforts. THen run a scan in safemode and if it is a virus, it should clean you.
