hi; I have an old HP Win95 desktop I keep for a few DOS programs I need. Bec of another purchase, have this Viewsonic monitor (VP 171s) I wanted to hook up to the HP to replace the big CRT monitor on it.
Used analog input on monitor, hooked up HP PC and it booted but then screen went weird. Tried other analog input (VP171s has two) and same thing happened.
Tried another monitor cable and it worked first few times but now it boots into WIndows then screen goes weird with black and White static-ey lines across it for a few seconds,followed by this message:
OUT OF RANGE
H Frequency 35kHz
V Frequency 86.2 Hz
Is this a driver issue? If so, what driver do I want--I searched the Viewsonic support site and there were no drivers listed for this monitor for any OS, much less Win95.
If not a driver issue, what is it? Is PC too old to support the monitor?
