Basic laptop overheating question.

recently I have had to fix up my internal fan on my acer because it was clogged with hair, I am wondering now is it possible that some of my parts may have gotten fried a bit? or is my lifetime for this laptop shortened because of it?I own an Acer 7720z, its specs are as followed.1.46ghz dual core processor356mb integrated videomemory2gb ram160gb hardrive.Windows XP Pro.Also with the types of games of play like CSS, and HL2, is it possible that an external fan could help protect some problems like overheating that could occur later?

here are some tips for keeping your laptop cool:
- Never place it on textil (like sheets or pillows, for the vent holes will be blocked)
- use external keyboard (it might seem ridicules, but hands produce a lot of heat)
- sit in a well ventilated room
- Never sit in direct sunlight.

Laptops overheat, rather fast. Nothing much that can be done about it, but you can at least postpone the effects a bit.
