Iming and surfing slowed down

Firstly regarding the YM, whenever i try to log-in, it gives me the message of sign-in problems and to try it again. Nothing wrong with my password or Yahoo ID. It signs in automatically when it feels like doing so. Otherwise i keep on trying and nothing happens.
Similarly browsing is also taking up hick-ups means one time its fast and pages are opening at speed, the other time i click on a link and i have to click it 5 times before the page starts to show signs of loading.
This abnormal behaviour is caused by some kind of virus i assume. Please help me to figure it out. Once or twice before i have had the message to quarantine (H:/ Inf / trojanhorse ) and it says the virus has been quarantined.
Thanks.

What is your network setup like? Who is your ISP? What operating system are you running? What web browser are you using?

What application told you had a virus?

Try a new Anti-Virus app. Here is a good free one: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com

Remember to turn off System Restore, and run the Virus app in safe mode to kill all the nasties.

so you are saying this kind of behaviour is a sign of a virus in my system? right.

I am not sure if i could try a new anti-virus at the moment since it might collide with the already installed virus application, and cause furthur problems. Is there any other possible way to clean it up.

thanks
