going crazy with Vista

How does one get to e an administrator on my home network please?
I have two laptops on the same network, one with XP and the other with vista.
I can access all I make free access on the XP from the Vista computer, but the Vista omputer always blocks me from accessing the Vista file from the XP computer.
I installed both system and didnt set any passwords, so I cannot understand why my access is blocked!

set a password on both sides, it should be fine once you've done that
