Create unallocated space

On your XP c drive(60gb) can you create unallocated space(10gb) for a bios recovery program? Will
Partition Magic do it? Can not be done in Windows disk management. I'm using less than 10 gb on the c drive. Thanks

Why on earth would you need 10GB for a BIOS recovery program? Even 10MB would be excessive.

We need more details on this BIOS recovery program. Do you have a link to info on it?

Reading from the Gigabyte user manual:
1.Xpress Recovery2 will check the first physical hard drive for the operating system. Xpress Recovery2 can only back up/restore the first physical hard drive that has the operating sustem installed.
2. As Xpress Recovery2 will save the backup file at the end of the hard drive, make sure to leave enough unallocated space in advance (10 GB or more is recommended; actual size requirements vary, depending on the amount of data).
Thanks for reply. You can make a recovery from the bios setup this way.

No - that isn't for BIOS recovery. It's basically a drive image that is placed on a hidden partition. I don't recommend it because if you lose the drive, you lose it all. A backup that is on the same drive as Windows is no backup at all.

Instead of that, use this:

Free Drive Backup Express - disk backup software

Buy a cheap external hard drive and use it for your backup. Don't forget to make the bootable CD!
