    Upgrading Rambus RAM

My computer is a Dell Dimension 8250.

    Pentium 4 2.8Mhz
    512mb ram
windows xp w/ service pack 3.

i am looking to add more ram, but very expensive. I found 1gb (2x512) but w/ pc800 for $75.

    or for about 100 more i can get 1gb w/ pc1066 ($175)

would it really be worth the extra $100?

    please say no! haha.

    Hi & Welcome to TechIMO

Absolutely not! You wouldn't notice the speed difference between PC800 & PC1066. What's in the Dell now? 2x256? or 4x128mb?

Thank you! 2x256 pc1066. Adding 2x512 pc800. I really wanted a new computer, but it's decent... has an radeon 9700 pro. So, I decided to put in another 1gb of ram and a 500gb 2nd hd (120gb is almost full) for about 150 total. I found this deal Desktops - HP Pavilion M9350F 2.5GHz AMD Phenom X4 Quad-Core Desktop PC ( KQ498AAR#ABA ) (Hewlett-Packard) - eCOST.com - electronics, computers, laptops, mp3 players which sounds amazing, but just can't really spring for it right now. So I figure this will hold me over. Thank you!
