    Laptop turning off

I have a 5 year old HP Compaq 2105US laptop. For the past few months, I haven't used it, but I'd liike to format it and give it away. Problem is, when I'm trying to boot from CD, as soon as it goes to the Starting Windows of the setup, the laptop turns off.

Adversely, if I boot normally, and log in to my user, the laptop then powers off.

Anyone have any clue why it's doing this?

you need to check the laptops temp, probs by hand if its not booting up, if it gets really hot really quick try getting some cpu compound and banging it in, laptops are buggers for overheating and shutting off, also have you tried resetting your bios.
