Dell model PP01L the laptop does not seem to recognize the harddrive

I will be doing something and then i get an error message that says windows is shutting down to prevent damage to windows(it also makes a funny sound{inside of the computer} like ,....a clicking sound or like something is trying to start but cant)......but then when I reboot the computer and it says ----primary hard disk drive 0 not found, No bootable devices-strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility---- i dont know whats wrong.......any suggestions

The hard drive died. There is nothing unusual about that, unfortunately. This is why people who have experienced such bad luck backup their data regularly.

You need to get a replacement IDE laptop hard drive for it and use the recovery CDs to reinstall Windows.

The laptop is rather old - about 7 years. You may want to just retire it. If you need to get critical data off of the drive, it will likely require professional attention and cost a lot of money.

ohhh.. well is there any way that the laptop would work long enough for me to get most of the data off there. I dont need windows just some information. ???

also the fan doesnt seem to work is it possible its just overheating or something like that????

If you need data from the hard drive, you need to take it to a professional.
