Dell Inspiron 1100

Installed new 120g HD, 512 RAM, reloaded XP, utilities and drivers from Dell OE discs that came with laptop,

I have no ports in device manager, can't get online to update bios or anything else.
Have difficulty reading some discs, doesn't recognize disc.

Tried to burn new driver discs on another laptop, no success there either.

Installing drivers from the Dell driver CD is a little tricky. Sometime you think they are installed and they aren't. After you extract them to the directory, you have to go to the directory and run them.
C:\Dell\drivers\R69315 The last directory will vary.
