laptop connect to lcd tv

I have connected my laptop to the lcd tv. everything works fine while windows is booting up. as soon as windows has pened on the laptop the lcd monitor will show the destop background but will not display the icons or any other program that might be running.
what am I messing up on? help.

Yea I use to have this problem too. It was something with the OS or graphics drivers.
Try updating your video driver.
