HP PAVILLION DV6000 will not switch on

Hi all

i have a hp pavillion dv6000 since 2005 never had any troublw with it ,
but over the past couple months its gotten really loud when you turn it on...

i usually have it on for days on end on standby.....

because when i switch it on it takes ages to turn on....

but today it wont switch on at all....

there is a panel on the right of the the switch on button where there is options for mute / volume control / and an option to launch quickplay when i click the quickplay one it loads up automatically,

but the actually laptop wont,

ive tried removing all the battery
and then unplugging,

and trying to restart but nothing is working....

does this laptop have a reset button....i cant seem to find it??

i appreciate any help thank you.....

No - there's no reset button.

What's happening is that the cooling tract (the tunnel with the fan in it that draws air in to cool the CPU) is clogged with dust and the laptop is overheating. You need a can of compressed air to blow the dust bunnies out.

Another possibility is that the laptop is just overloaded with viruses and spyware. Try these when you get the PC started:

ComboFix | freeware

Malwarebytes.org

If you cannot get it started after cleaning out the dust, get a copy of this:

Avira AntiVir Rescue System

Double-click it to open it. When you do that, it will offer to burn a CD for you. Do that and start your laptop with the CD it makes. Use the spacebar to select English. Let it scan and rename. Do not save a log.

What "other ideas" are you expecting that would be easier than going to Staples for a can of compressed air?

The easiest thing to do is to take it to a repair shop. You should consider that.

DV6000 No power/ No Sound/ No QuickPlay

Common problem with defective ribbon cable underneath the keyboard. We replace tons of them you can buy them on Ebay. We buy it from 2fix.net/flex-fcs.htm cause they are best quality, compeer to Ebay stuff, and shipped from Chicago, not China/Honk-Kong.
