| Autorun not working???
for some reason my Win98SE stopped detecting autrun.inf files on my CD-ROM and CD-RW drives. Whenever I put in a CD now, even when it contains an autorun file, the CD won't start automatically. Any ideas? |

Absolutely! Go into your CD-ROM properties/settings under Device Manager, uncheck Auto Insert Notification (if it's checked), click ok...restart...go back into same area and check it this time. Restart and give it a whirl...I also know of a way via going into your registry if that doesn't work. Lemme know...
EDIT: Controlling autorun in any version of Windows: http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/6/

nope, that registry tweak still doesn't work. I think it's a sign that I need a fresh install of windows. |

One more thing that might work is to go into your device manager, remove your cd-rom and reboot. Never know, it's worth a shot.
EDIT: This may work also...
To Modify these Registry Settings, Use Regedit and navigate to the following Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Policies
Explorer
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"
The default value for the setting is 95 0 0 0. Change the first byte to 91. Restart the computer to make the new setting take effect. You may have to right-click on the floppy and choose AutoPlay from the menu to see the AutoPlay behavior.

Did you try TweakUI ?..
You can now turn off/on the "Play audio CDs automatically" and "Play data CDs automatically" options in the "Paranoia" tab.
Regards
<edit> .. Oops .. too late .. |
