Welcome to TechIMO!
Unless you know one of the administrative passwords, there is not much you can do, except reinstall windows
We will need specs on the laptop, and what are you doing when it freezes.

For starters, you should not be running 2 anti-virus programs, and do you have a spyware/malware program, like Spybot or Malwarebyts?
What operating system is on the laptop and the Desktop. When you say computer we don't know which one you mean. |

Uninstall Norton (would be my choice) or AVG. Running two antivirus programs at the same time can cause problems.
You can run more than one spyware program though, such as Malwarebytes along with Spybot Search & Destroy.
Did the ebay computer come with a Restore Disk or Windows disk?

As for the desktop, you could start up in safe mode, and see if the administrative account really has a password.
Many people set up their user account as administrator with a password, but never set a password for the administrative account.
I believe the default password for the administrative account is, just leave it blank and hit enter. |

If you don't mind spending money, just get a OEM copy of XP for $89.
You are supposed to get something like a hard drive or motherboard to legley
purchase an OEM, but most vendors don't enforce it.
One company I used to deal with used to send a small package of screws to cover the hardware purchase requirement.
Try safe mode first.

If you can get on as the administrator in safe mode you can delete or change the user password. |
