| computer freezes in games
hey guys!
I just build a new system and i installed two games on it, team fortress 2 and left 4 dead. both games will freeze my computer at some point in the game and i won't be able to do anything except to restart my computer.
here is my spec:
phenom ii x4 955
asus m4a78t-e
antec earthwatt 650 (crossfire enable)
two HIS radeon 4850 crossfired
i have updated my drivers and directx, did a stress test for 30min and it was fine. so i don't know what else could be the problem here?
please help |

I personally don't think it is software.
If you have just built the system, have a check to make sure that everything is seated in the sockets properly.
Check the memory is in right as well as both the graphics cards.

i checked the temperature of the card it is fine...not over heating...plus i have a lot of fans in there.
i am now starting to think it might be power supply or my crossfire bridge b/c i only have one on |

Well Im not sure missing one of the bridges would cause it to freeze. So chances are its the PSU although im using the same one in my sig rig and have had no problems. |

try disabling Crossfire, maybe its something with Crossfire that might be conflicting with the games and causing issues. (either of those 2 games will run fine on a single 4850 damn near maxed out if not completely maxed)

so here is what i did....i set the ram to the factory setting and it is now running at 1.9v 800mhz 7-7-7-24
before it was running at 1.6v 533mhz
and everytime i restart my computer the timing switches to 7-9-9-24 is the normal should i just keep it that way.
so would this now allow me to run my games?
ok just ran prime 98 and it got a fatel error what should i change on my ram setting and run stable?
